FAQs

Q: What is your turnaround time?
A: Upon receipt of your order, (payment, master and artwork) (DAY 0), your order will be placed into art / disc master evaluation status, at which point both the artwork and disc contents will be checked for both content and quality, barring any Pre - QC issues your order will be in full production and ship as follows:

10 business days shipping on the 10th full business day. (Day 0 – Day 10)

Please note: The above time lines are to be used as a guide as some delays such as design corrections, master rejections, equipment failures or shipping delays may be beyond our control. It is very important to allot sufficient time for the production and packaging of your special project. The creation of your music took time. Please allow us sufficient time to make your project look and sound appealing to your audience. If time is of a concern, we do offer both 3 day and 24 hour rush services.

Q: How do I pay for my order?
A: All orders are on pre-paid basis. We accept Visa, Master Card, American Express, Discovery and Money orders.

Q: How will my order ship?

Q: Will there be a charge if I change my order in any way?
A: Due to our short turnaround times, our goal is to ship your order out as soon as possible, consequently if you should need to change any aspect of your order after the order is “In production” there will be a $35.00 per incident.

Q: Will you charge me tax on my orders?
A: Only orders shipped within the State of California are taxable.

Q: How do I burn my master?
A: We need a playable master discs burnt using the following guidelines. Follow these steps when burning a master:

1) Ensure the DVD recorder is clean. Run a lens cleaner through your drive. You can find them at your local electronics store for about $20.
2) Use high-density media (DVD-Rs). Recommended brands are Apogee, Mitsui, and Maxell.
3) Burn speed should be approx. 15-30% of the drive's maximum capacity. I.e. For a 8x burner, the optimal burn speed would be from 2x.
4) Make sure to burn the disk using Single Session, NOT Multi Session. This is very important. This option can usually be found under a preference/option menu.
5) Mail in the master enclosed in a Disc Envelope, NOT a Jewel case.
6) Make sure you enclose the Order # with your package or disc envelop but DO NOT WRITE ON THE DISC.

You have the option to approve a master disk that does not pass our Quality Control checks. You will be assuming the liability for any errors in the duplication including but not limited to skipping, pops, unwanted noises, etc.

IMPORTANT: Please preview your master for accuracy prior to submitting it for production. We are not liable for any content or program effectiveness. We can only guarantee Quality of the duplication process - not your content.

Q: What is 2-panel and 4-panel?
A: The easiest way to understand this is that each surface you see equals 1-panel. A single sheet with printing on both sides would be considered a 2-panel insert. A 4-panel insert would be a single sheet with one fold.

Q: How do I make disc label and jewel case artworks?
A: You may use labeling software or graphic software.
Save your artwork as 300 to 600 DPI resolution graphic files: BMP, JPEG, or TIFF, and please meet the size and dimension requirement listed on Artwork Guideline. Please be sure that image and color goes out to very external edge but keep text and important graphic inside "Safe Zone".

Q: Will my printed artwork look the same as it does on my computer?
A: In all actuality your computer screen displays your art in a 3 color format called RGB (Red, Green, Blue), and we print in a CMYK format, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black, a four color process. Depending on your art the color contrast can be somewhat different.

Q: How can I see what my art files might look like printed?
A: There are two ways:

One would be to request a proof in which we would provide to you a sample of your inserts and tray cards, your disc face would not be available as this is a film based product is created in rolls of 100. The cost for a proof of your order would be $50.00 or more, as it takes as long to set up an order of 1 as it does for an order of 1000.

The other alternative would be take your files you your local printer, i.e. Kinko’s and have them run a sample for you on 100lb gloss paper on a high-end laser printer.

Please note: All printers differ in their interpretation of color; consequently there may be some slight to moderate differences between what is printed at a given time, or on a given printer. This would be especially and drastically true if you print on an ink-jet based printer vs. a high end laser printer, such as the state of the art Xerox DocuColor™ 6060 Digital Color Press with the CREO interface currently in use here at DiskFaktory.

Q: Are the Recordable discs you use compatible with all players?
A: The discs we duplicate for you are 100% compliant with the specifications set forth for DVD disc creation. Some players, especially older ones, may have difficulty reading DVD-R discs. Factors that influence playability besides engineered support for DVD-Rs are disc reflectivity, dye color of the duplicated disc, re-read rate, poor disc care, dirty lens, player temperatures, non-clean environments and disc capacity. We use the highest quality discs for your duplication to ensure the compatibility of your discs to the most playback devices possible. There may be instances when a duplicated DVD-R will not play back on one device but will on another. This is unavoidable under any condition but with good quality discs, it can be minimized.
